Great store. A must visit if you go to Kyoto.
The 1,400 yen warabi mochi has a unique softness and elasticity that combines the flavors of warabi powder, sugar, and water to create an incredible texture. What made it successful is probably the result of spirit.
The garden and building create a quiet space on their own, and there are no noisy guests, so you can spend a peaceful time.
This is Kyoto. It's a store that's beginner-friendly. I think you can eat about 2 cups per person.
Kuri Shiruko, which is only available in autumn, has the best chestnut soup in shiruko, but the chestnuts inside don't match well, and each one would be delicious if eaten alone, but it's a waste of food.
I guess I expected too much.
In my personal opinion, it's hard to say that the cost performance is good.
The atmosphere of the store depends on the customers present.
There was a Japanese couple sitting in front of the alcove with their legs thrown out and talking loudly, which was almost the worst.
Warabimochi may also be rare, but once is enough.
For tourists who rarely come to Kyoto.
The atmosphere was solemn and we spoke very quietly. It was a traditional tea house I imagined. The garden was pretty and I appreciated that. Also, the beans that came out at the beginning were delicious, the waribimochi was delicious, and the green tea was also ㄹㅇ green tea.
It was everything I imagined. If you don't speak Japanese, it might be difficult to communicate. There were a lot of people who said no. On the way out, I had to take a 1-second photo in the hallway and then get up! I knelt down for a moment, but they said it was a passing space, so I got up quickly and said,
My friend tried to lean against the wall, but he said he couldn't lean back. When I asked him, he said he couldn't because the wall would break!!
I was glad I could understand everything. The counter staff were friendly.
The garden is visible from every seat in the Sukiya-style tatami room, and the room is carefully decorated to suit each month, so you'll be very satisfied with both the aesthetics and the knowledge.
The price is reasonable (in fact, it's cheap), so I can understand why it's a popular store.
Therefore, you will have to wait a little while, but you will feel very comfortable while waiting.
This is one of the stores that I would like to introduce my loved ones to.
Visited on a trip to Kyoto on Friday, September 29, 2023!
Visited after visiting Shimogamo Shrine.
(About 500-600m walk from Shimogamo Shrine.)
Arrived at Saryo Hosen at exactly 10:00.
(It was a weekday and it was opening time, so it was empty.)
I ordered the "Fresh Sweets and Matcha Set" (Matcha + Fresh Japanese Sweets) for ¥1,200 and "Warabi Mochi" for ¥1,400.
Choose from 6 types of Japanese sweets in the set: ``Today's top fresh sweets.'' (Select “Kinton”)
First, we were served black beans (squeezed beans) and tea. (black beans are delicious)
Next, "Fresh sweets and matcha set" (about 10 minutes from ordering)
(Kinton, a fresh confectionery, is elegant, gentle, and delicious.)
Finally, “warabi mochi” (about 15 minutes after ordering)
(The warabi mochi is made only after the order is placed, so it seems to take some time.)
When explaining ``warabi mochi'', he said, ``Please enjoy the first one as is, and then sprinkle the rest with brown sugar syrup if you like.''
It was sweet and delicious just as it was.
(It was the most delicious warabi mochi I've ever eaten.)
・As a souvenir, I purchased the seasonal ``Kuri Dayori'', a bite-sized sweet made of chestnuts wrapped in yokan dough (¥1,700 for 5 pieces).
All of these products were delicious.
(I definitely want to go again.)
Elegant gardens, unique Japanese flower arrangements, warm and comfortable Japanese rooms, smooth and chewy warabi mochi, fragrant black molasses, delicious hojicha tea, and matcha tea with a lingering fragrance and sweetness in the mouth.
Unexpectedly, I enjoyed a Japanese-style pavilion by myself during the red leaf season~
This warabi mochi is the best.
I came here looking forward to trying the famous warabi mochi. Maybe my expectations were too high...I wasn't satisfied with the taste, quantity, or price.
I bought ``Kamo Aoi'' as a souvenir, but I couldn't taste the taste of azuki beans. I'm sorry. However, the atmosphere of the store was nice.
